Ryan Reynolds obtained a small bald patch and suffered from insomnia while filming Buried, in which he plays a U.S. contractor in Iraq who is buried alive after an attack, Parade magazine says.

The 33-year-old Canadian actor said last month he spent almost a full day inside a coffin while shooting the movie, which is released on Friday.
"All of the physical injuries are like souvenirs," Reynolds told Parade magazine, which said the actor obtained scraps, bruises and a small bald patch during the filming process.

"But the emotional stuff is harder," he said. "When you're spending 17 straight days in a heightened state of anxiety and panic, it's not very good for your nervous system, so you walk away pretty jittery. I definitely struggled with a lot of insomnia when I was working on this film and that was something that was new to me."

Reynolds is mostly known for comedic roles, such as the title character in the 2002 movie Van Wilder, but has taken on action-oriented parts in recent years.

DINWIDDIE, Va. – One person was killed Friday when a tour bus belonging to Miley Cyrus overturned, but the 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star wasn't on board, Virginia State Police said.

Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the bus ran off the left side of Interstate 85, struck an embankment and overturned. The accident occurred around 8:15 a.m. in Dinwiddie County, about 40 miles south of Richmond. Speed and weather weren't considered factors.

Molnar said the person who died at the scene was male, but didn't identify him pending notification of family members. One of the other nine people on the bus suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Police wouldn't identify those aboard.

Molnar said the passengers exited the bus through the front windshield.

A wrecker arrived late Friday morning to haul away the black-and-maroon luxury tour bus, which was on its side in a ditch off the highway where it had apparently skidded for several hundred feet.

Molnar said the bus was one of four traveling together after the singer's two-show stint Wednesday and Thursday in Long Island, N.Y. The group was heading to Greensboro, N.C., where she is scheduled to perform Sunday.

Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus, who also appears on the family-friendly Disney sitcom "Hannah Montana."

"I told them to call me when they got to the hospital. And I remember thinking nobody's calling me back, so I tried calling again, and that's how I found out that he was no longer ... I couldn't believe it," she said. "It just didn't ring true to me. It felt like a dream."

Even now, she says, "It's still so difficult for me to believe. It's, you know, you have to accept what is. But it's hard. You have to move on with your life. You have to accept what is and I understand that."

As for how she's coping she says, "It's been a tough year … And a day doesn't go by that I don't think about him."

"Coming from being molested as a child, when [director Lee Daniels] said, 'I need you to be this monster,' well [I] knew who that monster was," she says.

Now, critics are pegging Mo'Nique, 41, as a possible Oscar nominee, but that doesn't phase her. "Any buzz I'm appreciative of," she says simply.

But her new late-night talk show on BET, The Mo'Nique Show, gets her smiling. "When that curtain opens, I'm a kid that has no limit on all the candy she can have."

The candy, of course, is just theoretical. Since late 2007, the star has sworn off junk food (sort of: "I still love those damn Doritos, baby!"), red meat and fried foods.

"Big is still beautiful," says Mo'Nique, who went from a size 20 to a size 14. "Big healthy people are beautiful."

Armed with a folding knife, Uzomah allegedly entered the E! offices Friday in search of Seacrest, 34, who was not in the building at the time. Once apprehended by security, the suspect was arrested by LAPD.

A court hearing to determine whether to grant a three-year restraining order against Uzomah has been set for Nov. 17.

"She was in the wrong place at the wrong time, associating with the wrong people," Mikel Neiers tells PEOPLE of his daughter, Alexis. "She got sucked into this. We're standing by her. I'm sure [the case against her is] going to be thrown out of court."

Alexis Neiers was one of four teenage girls arrested Thursday in a sting operation by LAPD detectives. A fifth suspect, Roy Lopez, 27, was also detained.

A source close to the case says the group is linked to burglaries at the homes of Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Orlando Bloom, and Audrina Patridge.

Reached for comment, Alexis's attorney Jeffery Rubenstein stated, "I expect my client will be fully vindicated when all the facts of the case come out. At this time, no formal charges have been filed against her. When the time is right, she will tell her side of the story."

Jon & Kate Set to Face Off in Monday Court Date

Jon and Kate Gosselin :
Attorneys for Jon and Kate Gosselin will once again face off in court Monday morning to see whether a Montgomery County judge will initiate contempt proceedings against either one of them.

The couple's attorneys had filed contempt motions against each other because of money missing from a joint bank account. On Oct. 13, Judge Arthur Tilson ordered Jon to return the $180,000 he took from the account and wanted any other money removed from the account itemized to make sure it was spent according to a divorce arbitrator's guidelines. The jurist set a deadline of Monday, Oct. 26, and said if the money issue had not been not resolved, he would hold a hearing on the matter.

On Friday, Jon's attorney, Mark Heller, told PEOPLE his client was in "complete compliance" with the judge's order – but Kate's attorney, Mark Momjian, said Kate was still waiting for the full amount to be returned. So far, Jon had only returned $28,500, along with a promise to return the remaining $151,500, Momjian said.

Jon had until Monday to return the money.

Meanwhile, Momjian said Kate had itemized how she spent the $55,000 she withdrew and had turned the paperwork into the court before the deadline.

There, she fits in thrice-weekly midnight workouts (while a nanny watches over her sleeping children) with strength training but no cardio. "I get enough of that with the kids," Suleman, who gets by on three hours of sleep, tells Us.

But don't think workouts alone got the 5-foot-7 mom down to 125 lbs. -- Suleman maintains a strict diet, too.

Five protein-packed meals or snacks a day normally consist of "anything the kids are eating." Food staples in the Suleman household? Oatmeal, sushi, turkey, and even homemade baby food. "As long as it's nutritious, it's good to eat," the busy mom explains.

"Even my Ob-Gyn is astounded at how I've snapped back," says Suleman, who did not seek any surgical help for her weight. "And she knows I haven't had anything done!"

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz is moving out of Melrose Place – the actress and her costar Colin Egglesfield have been cut from the CW drama, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The decision to cut the two actors has been “the original plan going into the development of the show,” executive producer Todd Slavkin tells EW. “We felt that once the murder mystery [involving their characters] was resolved, the tone of the show was going to shift … and [Simpson-Wentz's] character would move on.”

In a statement released after the announcement, Simpson-Wentz said, “Having the chance to play Violet on Melrose Place has been a thrill. Although I always knew her story would come to a final, insanely unpredictable end, playing a creepy, unstable character was something I always wanted to do, so I jumped at the chance. Thanks to the CW and the entire cast and crew of Melrose Place for allowing me this opportunity.”

The actors’ departure comes just a few weeks after original Melrose alum Heather Locklear began filming scenes for upcoming episodes.

Simpson-Wentz and Egglesfield took the news “like professionals,” says Slavkin. “Because they knew ahead of time [that leaving was a possibility], it wasn’t a complete shock.”

But fans shouldn’t worry about Locklear’s fate. Executive producer Darren Swimmer reveals her character will have a new love interest for at least three episodes. Adds Slavkin, “[Locklear is] in every episode moving forward. She’s a major focus [of the show].

A paparazzi photographer following Michael Jackson's children got into an accident Wednesday with one of the family's vehicles in Los Angeles, according to police.

"The damage was minor and there were no injuries," says Sgt. Ann Pickering. "A report was taken and it's under investigation."

The big moment for Mesnick and Malaney took place on the grounds of Kohara Lodge, an environmentally friendly house on the banks of the Shotover River, where Jason delivered a diamond and platinum ring (from a jeweler in his hometown of Seattle) by placing it in a glass of champagne and passing it to Malaney — after setting the timer on his camera to capture the scene for posterity.

This time, at least, they were alone. On a previous romantic outing to the picturesque Milford Sound, the couple’s picnic was crashed by an uninvited guest — a curious bird called a kea.

A rare alpine parrot, native to New Zealand and infamous for its cheeky attitudes, the kea flew down on the couple’s picnic blanket and nibbled on the champagne bottle. But the pair took it all in stride and even took a photo of their uninvited guest.

No word on whether their new feathered friend will be invited to the wedding.

On Monday, October 19, the Independent Filmmaker Project has announced the nominees for the 19th Annual Gotham Independent Film Awards, unraveling the dominance of "The Hurt Locker" and "Big Fan". Both feature films received the most nominations with three gongs each, and will battle it out in two categories, Best Feature and Breakthrough Actor.

In the Best Feature category, the two are up against Cherien Dabis' "Amreeka", Sebastian Silva's "The Maid" and the Coen brothers' "A Serious Man". As for the actor title, "Hurt Locker" enlisted Jeremy Renner and "Big Fan" put Patton Oswalt in competition with Ben Foster, Catalina Saavedra and Soulemane Sy Savane.

The third nod "Hurt Locker" collected is for Best Ensemble Performance, placing it to compete against "Adventureland" and "Cold Souls" among other movies. Meanwhile, "Big Fan" lands its third nomination for its director Robert Siegel. In the particular category, Siegel is listed against Cruz Angeles, Frazer Bradshaw, Noah Buschel and Derick Martini.

The announcement of the nominees was delivered by A.O. Scott, film critic for The New York Times, on UStream TV. IFP's executive director Michelle Byrd said of the selected movies, "Independent cinema continues to thrive in 2009. Ranging from the small gems produced on micro-budgets to extraordinary films from specialty distributors, the nominees all share the type of creative vision and risk-taking that are a hallmark of independent film."

All nominated movies will be screened for the public at MoMA from November 19 to 22, while the winners of 2009 Gotham Awards will be announced on November 30 at Cipriani Wall Street. During the gala ceremony, director Kathryn Bigelow, actors Stanley Tucci and Natalie Portman, and producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will be presented with career tributes.

After a second interview late Saturday with Richard and Mayumi Heene – the parents of the now-infamous balloon boy – Larimer County, Colo., Sheriff Jim Alderden says that misdemeanor charges will now "likely be filed" against one or both the parents.

Alderden would not elaborate on what changed his mind from Friday, when he told reporters during a nationally televised press conference that he was "convinced" the family was telling the truth.

However, Alderden added that he would be checking with federal officials to see if they would be filing charges as well.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was the first agency that the Heene's called Thursday to report their 6-year-old son Falcon was in a flying saucer-shaped balloon that escaped from the family's backyard.

Richard Heene, who has steadfastly maintained the balloon incident was not a publicity stunt, posted a sign on the door of his Fort Collins home late Friday saying he would not be giving further interviews, only to step outside on Saturday to tell reporters that a "big announcement" was coming.

The announcement turned out to be a rambling explanation about why he would from now on be taking questions from reporters submitted in written form to a box to be answered at a later time.

More is expected from the Sheriff on Sunday.

To the surprise of very few, TLC filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Jon Gosselin on Friday morning, accusing the Jon and Kate Plus 8 star of violating his contract by making paid and unpaid TV appearances without the cable network's permission.

"The network has been trying privately and patiently for months to get Jon to honor the contract he signed and to comply with his obligations relating to public appearances and statements," reads a statement released by the network. "Those efforts have been unsuccessful."

Mark Heller, Jon's attorney, told PEOPLE Friday morning that he had yet to see the TLC legal documents, and later released a statement after "reading the alleged complaint on the Internet."

"Jon will vigorously defend against this baseless action, assuming Discovery and TLC choose to go forward with their claim by legally serving him with notice, and we are confident that through the course of litigation it will clearly be evident that Discovery and TLC exploited, manipulated and abused the Gosselins’ vulnerability and financial hardship," Heller's statement read.

Jon, 32, is in the midst of a bitter divorce with his wife of 10 years, Kate, 34.

The suit was filed in Maryland's Circuit Court of Montgomery County, where TLC's parent company is based. A copy of the lawsuit was not immediately available, but it reportedly also alleges Jon harmed the show "with his constant criticisms" and revelations about what goes on behind the scenes on the show, says the Los Angeles Times.

The suit wants Gosselin to abide by the terms of his agreement and return any money he made for other TV appearances.

When Jon Gosselin decided to pull his kids from Jon and Kate Plus 8 last month, he said it was for their well-being because he and his wife were going through a divorce.

But in a lawsuit filed against him Friday by TLC, the show's production company says Jon only attempted to remove his kids after producers failed to give into his attorney's demand to let him out of his exclusivity contract.

The suit says Jon's attorney contacted them the same day they announced they would re-launch the show in November as Kate Plus 8 and focus it on Kate's life as a single mom. The suit says TLC only made the announcement after an unsuccessful attempt to discuss the matter with Jon.

"(Jon) Gosselin's counsel stated that if this release was not forthcoming within one hour's time, defendant Gosselin would reverse his often repeated public comments to the contrary and publicly object to further filming of the program on the ground that it is purportedly detrimental to his children," the suit alleges. "When (TLC) declined to provide the release, Defendant Gosselin followed through on his threat and thereafter notified TLC that he would attempt to bar TLC's further access to the family property and further filming of his children."

Mark Heller, Jon's attorney, calls the allegations "weak, feeble and baseless" and says the contract violated Jon's First Amendment rights. "Discovery and TLC has treated Jon Gosselin like a dog by attempting to keep him on a leash and muzzle him and deny the father of eight an opportunity to earn a livelihood to support his family," he says.

Florida:- The widow of Billy Mays is challenging the findings of a Florida coroner that the 58-year-old TV salesman's death was caused by or contributed to by cocaine use.

Deborah Mays has hired an independent medical examiner, whose results, while acknowledging the presence of cocaine in May's body, do not suggest that drugs were a deciding factor in his death.

"Billy's family never agreed with the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's conclusion that cocaine use contributed to Bill's death," Deborah Mays writes in a statement.

Dr. William Manion of Medford, N.J. conducted a second investigation but did not physically examine Mays's remains.

Manion tells PEOPLE that he does not believe Mays was a chronic cocaine user based on his review of the autopsy report.

"I look for an enlarged heart, inflammation of the heart and damage to the kidneys, brain and liver in a chronic cocaine user,” Dr Manion says. "I found a 50-year-old, overweight (225 lbs.) man with only one symptom of cocaine use, and that was the thickening of the left ventricle of his heart.

In his report, Manion wrote, "If cocaine had been considered a significant contributing factor, the manner of death would be classified as 'accidental' and not 'natural.'”

According to spokesman Willie Puz, the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s office is aware of "media reports regarding a differing opinion on the cause of death of Mays," yet stands by its findings.

“It was quite scary when I first found out I had swine flu,” Grint said. “I thought, ‘Am I going to die?’ But it was just like any other flu really. I had a sore throat and I went to bed for a few days.”

Winning the French ANDAM award may only have shuffled Giles Deacon to the graveyard slot on the Paris schedule, but he made the very best of the situation with a spoofy-spooky Scooby-Doo-ish show starring his very own Daphne (Guinness, that is). Debuting on the bottom rung of the Paris schedule after years of being top dog in London didn't faze this most genial of designers. Instead, it made him sharpen up his act so that the cute, sixties-cartoonish, neon, pastel, and metallic collection full of delightful prom dresses turned out to be the first truly coherent outing of his career—with tons of playful accessories thrown in. "You have to make it more concise here," he said. "I just wanted to do more real-life, obtainable clothes." Deacon's line is now produced under a new license deal with the Italian manufacturer Castor SRL. That means his deliciously detailed peach, apricot, and lime froufrou dance dresses and Monroe-ish sheaths in draped tulle or 3-D "dragon-stitch knit" (a genius design by Sid Bryan, a London specialist friend) may hit stores at a competitive speed next spring. They deserve a place, too—as do the nutty, teenager-ish accessories: Cutler and Gross "Scooby" sunglasses with pink printed frames, spider and scorpion jewelry, neon pegs and gold-plated bulldog clips to stick in hair and festoon collars—not to mention really silly soft-toy dinosaur bags. Like so much else this season, Deacon's collection is young, and it has a believable, cheerful personality that should see him holding his own. As a footnote to the season, Deacon also smartly confirmed the new shoe shape that will come as a blessed relief to all the platform-weary fashion foot soldiers who are limping home from the field on planes and trains right now. It is, of course, the kitten heel. Deacon's version is attached to a long, low, pointy plastic and snakeskin last—provided by Christian Louboutin. Let's hope he makes enough to slake demand.
